Company Coffee

O.k. so I'm late by a day but I was very busy this week!
The small thing from I have chosen this week from Rachel Anne's Home Sanctuary is to reorganize my shoes. This was an easy one for me since I have all my shoes on a rack in my closet. I put the stray ones back on the rack and moved them around so the winter ones were on the top where I can grab them easily. I only allow myself to keep the pairs that will fit on the rack.

I also found the perfect pair of nursing shoes this week! They are Cherokee's and look a lot like Dansko's. I was relieved to find a pair that were tight enough in the heel and didn't pinch my toes :)

Nursing School Orientation

Yesterday and Today I went to Nursing School Orientation. It was a really great experience. The first day the Dean of OHSU came down from Portland to speak with us in person. They used a wireless conferencing system so all the satelite schools could participate. They covered information on how to access all the services we need to use like financial aid. Then we had a catered lunch. After lunch we spent a lot of time getting to meet the faculty, and other students. Upper class students came to share their experiences with us and encourage us. I was excited to see quite a number of students that I had taken prerequisites with. It was a great start!

Today I learned to use a lot of different computer systems. The faculty gave us a lot of information about the program, and we took tours of the classrooms, skills and simulation lab. I left feeling really comfortable about the program, the faculty and the other students. It is going to be a steep learning curve but I am really getting excited about diving right into the hands on learning. They have computerized "patients" that follow programs generated by real patient data for us to learn on. We each do the simulation and then review with our classmates.

I now have all my books and supplies except for the shoes. I need a really comfortable all white pair of shoes.

Company Girl Coffee Friday!

You may have noticed the Company Girl button on my blog. It's there because of Rachel Anne at Home Sanctuary Rachel's blog is all about the Small things we can do to make our home more of a sanctuary. Every day she gives us a Mission around our home. Sometimes it's something to clean, other times something fun to do with our family. We keep each other company in our quest to make our homes more peaceful and cozy. I have really enjoyed being one of Rachel's Company girls.

Her newest mission is Coffee fridays when we can share our blogs with each other. I decided to join in the fun :)

My favorite mission this week was to bake something from scratch. My kids really appreciated it :) We made chocolate chip cookies.

What a morning!

Well today didn't go quite as planned. I got a call at 10 this morning that
my 13 yr old son Max had passed out at school. His teacher said he was just sitting in class and got this glazed look on his face, started breathing funny and fell out of his chair and hit his head. So I had to run to the school, take him
to the Dr and go to the hospital for tests. They did an EKG on his heart to
rule that out and it came back fine. We go up to the hospital next week for
a sleep deprivation EEG to see if he is having seizures. For now he seems
fine except for the bump on his head. But it was quite the morning!

Health update

I have decreased the prednisone to 9 mg and my skin looks great. I am supposed to reduce my prednisone by 1 mg every 2 weeks now. At that rate I hope to be done with taking the prednisone by my next Dr visit. I noticed this week that my fingernails are fully recovered from the stress reaction from when I was so ill. In fact they are back to growing quickly and have good strength and thickness. Before my BP first showed up I had noticed my nails were always breaking and had gotten very thin. So I am taking this as a great sign that I am very healthy right now :)

Home Sweet Home

We had a great time on our vacation! Our first leg took us up to see Lane's parents and sister in Port Orchard, WA.

Day 1- Drove up to Wa and had dinner with the family

Day 2- Went to the Kitsap County Fair. The kids had fun looking at all the animals.

Day3- We went to the Seattle Aquarium,

then met up with my friend Karie and her Daughter Loreena and went out for lunch at the Asian Market and then to the Seattle Science Center. We saw the Lazer light show set to the music of Queen LOL. Lots of hands on fun, and the butterfly house was the highlight for Loreena and I.

After the science center I met up with two online friends and their kids at the park.

Day 4- We had lunch with Lane's grandmother and packed up to get back on the road.
Day 5- We drove to Spokane
Day 6- Drove to my parents
Day 7,8,9 had a great visit with Nana and Boppa

Day 10,11 drove home
